Resistance to wheat spindle streak mosaic bymovirus (WSSMV) has been found in hard red, soft white and soft red winter wheats (1,2). Khan et al. (3) showed that resistance to WSSMV in cultivar Geneva seems to be controlled by a major gene on chromosome arm 2D L, they also developed two RFLP markers to assist breeders during marker assisted selection of WSSMV resistance.
RFLP markers Xcdo373 and Xbcd1095 https://wheat.pw.usda.gov/cgi-bin/GG3/report.cgi?class=marker&name=BCD1095 https://wheat.pw.usda.gov/cgi-bin/GG3/report.cgi?class=locus;name=Xbcd1095-2D are 12.4 cM apart on the long arm of chromosome 2D and flanking the WSSMV resistance in Geneva cultivar (3). The experimental procedures used to detect the markers are the standard laboratory methods for RFLP.
